Richard’s current role involves caring for the heritage and environment of Scotland’s 250-year-old inland waterways, as well as project development, fundraising, and the promotion of marine and canal-led tourism. Since joining Scottish Canals in 1999, he has worked on a number of high-profile projects, including the Millennium Link and the regeneration of the Lowland Canals as a visitor destination. Most recently, he played a pivotal role in the creation of The Helix, a £43 million project transforming 350 hectares of underused land between Grangemouth and Falkirk. Richard is also a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers.
